And yes, that is an oak leaf hydrangea...good eyes. There is also heart leaf skull cap, cast iron, and a dwarf beautyberry nearby. This is the first full season for the hydrangea and I'm really hopeful that it will be happy here- especially with the rain of late. We are still in drought...Lake Travis was about 37% full before the rain this weekend. Hopeful that we'll keep adding to the totals. Myself and a friend have lusted for these after seeing them in New Mexico, but they wanted an arm, a leg, AND a firstborn ! Did you find them somewhere closer ? I'm surprised your columbines are so lush with blooms already. I'm just west of San Antonio and mine have just started. Glad to see you enjoy Rock-Oak-Deer's blog -- she's a sweet garden pal ! And... we're having a plant swap in Manchaca next month if you're interested. Looks like your columbines are a few weeks ahead of mine. Is that an oak leaf hydrangea behind? I have the same combo in my garden with a few Turk's cap in between. Enjoy the rain!! It is so wonderful. I saw in our paper the other day that the DFW area is officially out of drought status at this point, but I know it could change in a heartbeat this summer.Toni - Signature Gardenshttp://signaturegardens.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7527178868601047846.post-28874828025810117812012-03-10T12:11:37.388-06:002012-03-10T12:11:37.388-06:00Thank God for the rain!!!
