Word for Wednesday ~ Illumination

I adore the way this photo depicts the simple progression of blanket flower blooms.  But even more, I love the way the center bloom captures and reveals the changing quality of autumn light.   It's my favorite time of year to photograph the garden!  What is your favorite time of year to capture your garden in photos?

To see the gorgeous fall light captured in other gardens, visit Donna at GardenWalkGardenTalk.  She'll be hosting the Word for Wednesday meme.

  1. You are right, Cat. This is a winsome depiction of the stages of life of the blanket flower, with the beautifully lit, slightly off center bloom. I hope you consider this one for GGW, it really is a great capture that shows the end of summer to me. And of course shows your incredible photography skills. I would like to see what the judge has to say about this shot. Thanks for joining my meme.

  8. This must be your latest masterpiece; a winning picture! My favorite time is in the morning, any day of the year since there are no seasons. Noticed Crafty Gardener said the same thing.

  10. Stunning photo, Cat! It should definitely win an award! I need to photograph the garden more in the autumn. Generally, spring is my favorite time of year to photograph plants--for various reasons including the light.

  11. Hi Cat, Your shot, with its progression of a blanket flower from bloom to seed is perfect for the time of year and Donna's suggested theme.
I have yet to decide on a favourite time of year to photograph the garden. So far, I have only discovered favourite times of the day. Certainly the light in fall is more golden, as shown in this wonderful capture.

  17. I'm realizing this year that autumn really does have the nicest light. Everything has a warm glow to it when photographed. I really like the word theme this week. Illumination really describes the act of photography and capturing light so well.

  18. Beautiful, that luminescent orange perfectly encapsulates the time of year. This is my favourite season for taking photos too, the softness of the light, the lower angle, the fall colours, can create incredibly beautiful pictures.

  19. This time of the year we don't have much only mushrooms in our garden. It is raining too much, too cold for flowers to bloom anymore. I have to admit when the sun comes up it is beautiful. Love your picture.

  22. I used to believe the best time to photo was spring while everything was beautiful. But spring was a bit hard on me this year. So perspectives have changed and I am now capturing the garden to immortalize the triumphant survivors.

  23. Wonderful photo for Donna's meme! The light accentuates the fall colors.

I don't have a favorite time of the year. I seem to be outdoors with my camera every sunny weekend.

"Pooh!" he whispered.
"Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."
