It Was Only A Matter of Time...

Remember him?  Let me reintroduce you to "Bad."  This is the katydid from "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly."  He and his buddy have been hanging out on the sago palm for the past week or so.  They never even attempted to hide from me.  They were as bold as bold could be and as much as I've been tempted to squish them, I've resisted the temptation and left them alone.  Well, guess what...

Yep, he was on the buffet yesterday afternoon...I know, I'm not supposed to gloat but dang, can I get an amen!

All I had to do was let nature takes it course, so to speak.  It's the great circle of life Simba!

And this is about the moment he noticed me.  His expression is very similar to the "do you mind" look I was given by the other anole who resides in the drape on my arbor after I watched him go through his molting process.

His expression is so priceless I felt it was worth sharing again.  You can check out the "Just A Glimpse At First" post if you would like to see more of this cutie!

He must have hiccuped or something because all the sudden half the katydid was back out of his mouth!  I thought surely he must be really bothered and distracted by my presence so I left him be.  I can tell you though as I went back to my gardening chores, I took a victory lap!  I'm thrilled that so many of these anoles have decided to call my yard home.  They have become little garden pets to me and I have so enjoyed having them around this summer; not only for their entertainment value but because they are hungry!!

  1. Oh, but the Katydid will sing no more. The anole will be filled with song now. Absolutely stunning photography! You just about covered the greens here. Beautiful! Love the hints of blue in this creatures eyes and body. Your next to the last is precious! The blues and reds behind the green leaves is very dramatic. Great post! ;>)

  2. Well, hello Cat, glad to meet you!
Wow, you can definitely get an Amen from me. Isn't it great when the bad guys get their due? I have never seen an anole around here, but then, around here it gets really cold (Zone 4) so that's probably why. Love the look they gave you, very like the famous car insurance Gecko.

Your photography is stunning...now I've got someone else to learn from. I started stumbling around in Picasa and Photoscape and am having fun with it, but the only problem is I mess with the pictures for so long, I run out of time to post anything. But with practice, I should get better. The mosaic thing is very helpful for the flower portraits, don't have to post 34 pictures and make people wonder if my post will ever end. And speaking of ending, yes, this comment will end, too! Thank you!

  5. Really wonderful photos. They would be on the top of my list for some of the best I have seen. The second to last one really made me smile, you are right, very priceless. I got an email with a photo of a little lizard, yesterday. I think that maybe my Happy Monday post. You gave me an idea.

  6. Thank you ladies! I still can't believe I was lucky enough to capture this moment. It was a true blessing as I was out in the yard doing some chores that I really didn't want to be doing :)

  10. Ok that was hysterical. Great great shots!!!! Amazing color and definition. Too funny. I watch the little guys in our plants too- we have a praying mantis that has been spooking me out here and there and yesterday I found another one- or he turned white (the first I found was green)- not even sure if they can change colors.... I don't know a lot about them. Anyway, enjoyed reading your post!!!
