Karin, It is new to my garden...I'm pushing a bit as I'll need to amend the soil for acidity but a girlfriend who lives a mile away has one and has for years. She isn't a gardener and does nothing to it but trim it up a bit...so I'm hoping I'll be blessed with flowers and that it will thrive! We gardeners are an optimistic bunch, right?!
Annelie, thank you. My camera is a Nikon 7000. I used to use a D60 until Christmas when my sweet hubby gifted me with the D7000. I'm enjoying how to use it...still very much a novice but it is pretty forgiving ;)
Gardenias outside here will bloom in June. Someone gave me a large florist's gardenia -- the plant is large, not the florist -- that I'm encouraging to bloom soon in the greenhouse. There are fat buds now. Gardenia fragrance is so heady that you can almost taste it.
I love gardenias, but I mostly grow them for my sister. She lives north, but every time she visits, she wants to know if the gardenias are blooming - she wants to sniff! They do smell luscious. I can't imagine a garden without them.
Thanks so much for your meaningful comments. I know there are a lot of blogs to visit and it means a lot to me that you take the time to visit and leave comments here. Thank you!
Gosh, that gardenia is gorgeous! Gardenias might be my favorite flower. I adore the scent. My date brought it as corsage for my prom. I love Anais Nin too.
BTW, you have blocked access to your Google profile both as Cat and Whimsical Gardener, which makes it harder to respond to your comments. I was able to track you down via my blog roll, luckily.

I love gardenia, but never had luck with them. Nice image, and the quote is very meaningful.
ReplyDeleteI have to say the quote is a perfect match for the pure white virginal bloom!
ReplyDeleteAnd blossom she did! I can nearly sense the delicious fragrance found in those soft smooth petals. Lovely!
