Susan is very lovely! She used to be in my garden. I think I need to invite her again. I would love to get together.:) Hard to believe it is almost August already.
I always think black eyed susans are too trite, too common, too overused and ordinary and usual. And then they bloom and I am smitten with them all over again. Mine have just opened, and they say summer!
Lovely cut flowers. Do they last long? I have a confession to make. I never cut what little flowers I have. I just purchase cut flowers for indoors. Mostly though I use selloum because they last weeks and I don't even have to change the water daily.
Suzy feels right at home in our neck of the woods - so much so, that she's invited her many, many siblings to join her - our fields are filled with them right now (I must capture that. soon).
Laurrie, they are pretty much the only flowering plant that isn't wilted by mid-day right now! They do say summer and in such a cheerful way!
It is fun to say Rudibeckiea Shyrlene! Say it fast three times! Lol
They last a few days Bom. The only flowers I have in abundance are the Susans and coneflowers. So they get to be in vases in the house. The others are too small and few and are left for the hummingbirds.
You're welcome Rick, thank you for allowing us to pray for you.
Oh Cat, Cat, Lovely Dear. Your cast of characters and photography - been looking over past posts too and these are just the latest in a long line of artistry.
Oh black eye susan, you can be a thug but I only give you a hug. A mainstay in my garden is sue.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I never think about cutting some flowers for inside the house? I've got like a dozen empty vases...
ReplyDeleteBTW, cut bamboo looks fantastic in a vase, and lasts forever -- until the cats eat all the leaves.
@greggo, Exactly!!
ReplyDeleteGood to know Alan. Thanks. I'm enjoying my potted bamboo. Another long lasting cut leaf is the philodendron...they last forever too!

Lovely lovely :) They bloom in spite of the harsh temperatures and awful drought!

ReplyDeleteIt is so true, they bloom no matter what and demand so little. I never cut mine for inside either. Must give it a try.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo. My mother is and artist too and she keeps her pencils and pens in one those marmalade jars.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo! Black-eyed Susans, like Shasta Daisies just brighten a room like sunshine. (...it's fun to say Rudibeckia, too...)

I love the marmalade jar -- very nice antique-y treatment!
ReplyDeleteLovely indeed. A beautiful survivor of all your mad weather.
