'Who' Have We Here?

Well concealed, tucked away in the jasmine, is one of the screech owls!  I've been looking
high when I should have been looking low!

'Who' wouldn't want to roost in such a sweet smelling spot amongst the star jasmine?

Oh, happy day!

  10. Well spotted. What a wonderful shady, sweet smelling roost. I'm afraid the owl in our box is just roosting there. Here today, gone tomorrow and then back again the next day. Must be waiting for the eggs to hatch somewhere else before he is called on for duty.

  11. I believe this is a commentary on the drab box you gave him/her. This bird wants a house that has some style! :-)

  13. Oh yes, he's very hidden. I thought maybe you were posting about the Jasmine (which would be interesting, too). And then, there he is in the next photos! How fun!

  14. Very lucky? Would you say that your home is near the outskirts of development? Just trying to get a sense of whether I could hope to attract on of these cuties to my yard.

  19. What a face. I'm surprised you noticed him in there, that jasmine is right thick. I looked and looked at the first photo and I couldn't see the owl at all. Glad you found him though, he's awful lovely.

  21. I read your post earlier but didn't have time to leave a comment, so I have to tell you, I just NOW got the title of the post! Duh! Cute :-) And so is your visitor. I would be doing backflips! We hear owls at night near our place, but not sure where they are roosting. The Jasmine is gorgeous, too. The frangrance must be intoxicating with that many blooms!!!

  22. That would be great to be able to hang out in the shade and soak up that wonderful fragrance.

  23. Ha! That's exactly where I'd choose to live too!

  24. So heart-warming to see the owl cozily tuck away in its niche.

  25. Abbey, we live in a heavily treed area but I don't think you need to be on the outskirts of town to attract the owls. They are pretty common. Just need a tree canopy and an owl box. We bought ours at a local shop but I've seen design specs for them online. You should go for it!

  27. I'm SO jealous of your owls! Add another thing to my wish list for the garden -- an owl box. We sometimes hear them in the big tree near the stock tank, and one year my son even spotted the birds hassling an owl hanging from a low branch there. If I build it, will they come?
