A Suggestion for Summer Sunshine

Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair...

  4. I'm not dancing, I'm trying to avoid mosquitos. And those are twigs and leaves in my hair -- typical after a weekend in the garden.

I like your version better though. :-)

  6. This harkens me back to my childhood picking meadow daisies and susans and wearing them in our hair or making necklaces, bracelets and rings of flowers for our hair...

  7. Gorgeous photo, Cat. Lovely sentiment though....really. You've been outside recently? Here?

Um, is the weather that much better (read:cooler) in your part of Austin than mine? I can't imagine purposefully staying out in the sunshine at the moment without being held at gunpoint (and then only because I'm sure I'd die of heat stroke trying to outrun the bullet). My daisies aren't even happy to be out in the sun at the moment and they usually look fresh as, well, themselves.

    1. Ha! Deb I understand your reluctance to spend any more time than necessary out in the sun right now. For whatever reason, my family doesn't mind the heat. We spend a lot of time outside this time of year but I will add the disclaimer that most of that time is before noon and after seven in the evening! The other disclaimer I'll add is that my patio is under a canopy of live oaks that makes being out there pleasant, especially if you're under the ceiling fan and stretched out on the new swing bed! Believe me, I have plenty of flowers that would enjoy a little shade right about now...things are looking tired out in the full sun.

    2. Oh I'd quite forgotten! You have that lovely new swinging bed! You are so right - I'd be fine swing-bed-dancing I'm quite sure. I'd even be willing to dart out into full sun to try and find flowers for my hair with that bed as refuge. I think large part of my problem is a lack of anything exciting or really truly NEW around here. The heat only seems magnified by the same-old same-old chores and view.

    3. Well Deb, we are just gonna have to do something about that! You need to join our Austin garden blogger's group. We do a monthly get together that includes a plant swap. You never know what you'll come home with!

  9. Nice imagery! Though that wouldn't go with my look, let alone fit in my flowing hair...
