It's Friday! What Are Y'all Doing This Weekend?

I'm gonna try to sneak in a little early morning gardening between viewing the Olympics and celebrating a dear aunt's birthday.

What are y'all doing?  Whatever it is, I hope you get some good garden time!

  1. I thought I'd try some early morn gardening, but not sure I can handle it! I think I'll be spending some time planning what I'll do this fall. . .like cleaning up! And learning how to take pictures like you. Happy birthday to your dear aunt! Oh, and wrangling all my plastic containers: an annual August project!

  2. Looks like your recent rains have been good for your daisies. Plan on getting up early before the heat moves in and garden of course.

  3. It's been so hot that I barely feel like going into the garden anymore! When I do, it's usually to fight with the voles, alas! But it gives me time to tackle some indoor projects - painting is on the menu for this weekend, I believe. Glad you are getting some good gardening time in! Enjoy the weekend!

    1. Glad to hear you're finding ways to stay cool. Painting is on my agenda too this summer. I'd better hurry though, I'm running out of summer!

  5. Hi Cat, It's the end of the weekend, and I spent the weekend inside with the flu in spite of it being wonderful gardening weather! Your photos are inspirational, love the daisies.

  7. The same thing we do every weekend Pinky: try to take over the world!

Pinky and the Brain popped into my head as soon as I read your post title. =)

Actually, it's more like "try to take over the garden" (from all of the weeds that somehow survive on so little rain -- although we just got a drenching!)

  8. I'm getting ready to go outside and spread more mulch. Tomorrow I have a cemetery meeting. Afternoons are too hot to work outside, so hopefully I'll get in some house cleaning and laundry time, too! Enjoy your weekend!

  9. Love those romantic daisies. I will be catching up, but will I ever actually catch up , that's the question LOL!

  10. I will try to get a little more progress made on weeding - that is an eternal project unfortunately. I'll clean/refill the hummingbird feeders, buy more seed/feed for the squirrels and other birds, get those bromeliad pups repotted like I've been meaning to do.... I hope to start a list to organize late Fall nursery purchases and pre-winter transplant work to be done.

Hmmm. Sounds pretty typical (aka boring) around here. Fun question to ask - wish I had more fun to report in response!

  11. I'll be doing the usual....hauling watering cans around the yard. The rain barrels are almost empty. Time for some rain to fill them up.
    Have a great weekend.

  12. This weekend is a mishmash. I was lazy this morning. Later, I cut back some spent flowers and foliage, watered a few plants, watched birds at the feeders (they were going crazy today!), did a lot of housework, and worked on my next post. We had a late-afternoon thunderstorm (yay!). My life is pretty boring compared with the Olympics--ah, yes, I'll be watching that, too. ;-)

  13. Today my husband and I took a country drive to a monastery that makes its own gouda cheese from local milk. We had lunch at a fabulous deli converted from an old gas station and then went wine tasting. Very fun day!!

  15. Hi Cat it is already Sunday evening here, and i had a real difficult time pruning stems. I pruned the Duranta erecta, the Florida beauty, Sanchezia while it was raining hard. I tried to enjoy the job, but it was really cold. I cannot wait for the rains to stop because there is a Low Pressure Area, which always seem to be with us these days. I also have to leave for the city this afternoon and will be back to the garden after two weeks. So i finished pruning and my fingers got wrinkled when i finished. I wondered if i really enjoyed it.

  16. Am watching far too much of the olympics when I should be sorting the gaarden out. Luckily it keeps raining so I dont feel so bad

  17. No Olympics. No gardening either because of the non-stop rains that Andrea mentioned. Weekend mornings at the covered tennis court. Saturday afternoon lazing at home with the family and then Sunday afternoon lunch out followed by a grocery run, bringing my daughter to dance practice and my wife to work, a barber visit and then reviewing my son for his quiz today. What sports events did you watch?

    1. Bom, you're industrious! Watched tons of tennis, women's indoor volleyball, track, it's all good! Then today (Sunday) I got completely engrossed in Downton Abbey. I had a marathon viewing session of the entire first season in one sitting! I'll pay for it tomorrow ;)
