A nursery visit always raises my spirits, especially when adding fresh flowers to a space. My favorite joy givers is sunflowers, but your arrangement is lovely.
While I am all about the water saving perennials in the beds around our home, I am also a huge fan of the seasonal color pop afforded by annuals on our front porch. I feel the investment is worthwhile even though the results are temporary. Money can't buy me joy, but it can buy me flowers, and they are a pretty close second....
Absolutely, Deb. My perennials, while beautiful, tend to be of the small flowering variety. I never seem to be able to gather enough for a vase full of flowers. A handful of mums did just the trick...instant joy in the house!
I used to buy cut flowers, to brighten up inside. Now, I usually get a plant. It usually lasts longer and I can stick it in the ground when the blooms are gone.
Thank you for your sweet compliment, Plant Postings. The cropping look that you mention is achieved with a macro lens. I use a 105mm. I try to switch and use other lenses to mix it up but I always end up going back to my tried and true 105. Nothing beats that lens for me.
And coincidentally where I was today too - although I didn't find what I was looking for (mums). What a reward you got from your trip - and nicely presented.
[as for my drive-by shootings, I had to take them from behind the wheel (yes, I was careful) because stopping for photography isn't tolerated too well when we're headed south ;>) ]
