It's mid-June and your heat stress settles on my heart as though I were the one sitting under the blistering sun. Somehow you manage to wake every morning looking fresh from the night's reprieve to bravely face another day of a cloudless sky.
You spring forth with bright sunny blooms as if shaking your fist at the blazing sun, daring it to daunt your valiant effort to face the day with a lively disposition.
Your cool hues brighten shady recesses and revive the battered, heat weary spirit.
Never complaining, anxiously awaiting the absent caterpillars that your tender leaves would willingly nurture.
Your heat hardy flowers are a testament to your ardent determination to provide sustenance to all creatures dependent on you for their existence.
Joyfully yours,
Cat

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Cat! Simply my most favorite post of yours ever - and I didn't think I could pick a 'favorite', since I enjoy your blog so much.
ReplyDeleteCat as always...STUNNING!! I could get lost in your photo's for hours and honestly am always so excited when you post =) I have just started learning more about macro's, hopping to capture half the beauty you do!! Cheers Julia
ReplyDeleteI imagine that a season like this one really is quick to advise you of which plants can be counted on in your particular conditions... thanks for a lovely post! Larry
ReplyDeleteIs it correct to say that your photos are outrageously beautiful? I guess the texture plays a part but even the yellow flower without texture is spectacular. Sense the envy?
ReplyDeleteWould it help if I get a macro lens or is it the photographer?
Happy GBBD! :)
Hi Cat, i haven't been here for awhile and i missed those amazing awesome photos. I am envious of them! Whew!
ReplyDeleteHappy bloom day Cat. Isn't that so true, that in the early morning the garden seems to have mustered the energy overnight to bloom again. In my garden the chocolate daisies are once again perfuming the air. Then by afternoon they wither in the blistering heat. How many more days can they do this?
ReplyDeleteI'm with the others, stunning!
ReplyDeleteLovely post, exquisite photography.
ReplyDeleteLike the artful touch to you post. As always. Thanks for the fav too! Mark my word, soon you will be talking about too much rain.
ReplyDeleteCat, its always such a joy to visit your blog. Not just for the outstanding photographs but also your writing - always unique! What a lovely post!
ReplyDeleteHi Cat, A beautiful love letter. As always, such pretty images. The greenish hydrangea picture has to be my favourite.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of writing a letter to the garden- very cute! Of course, the letter's illustrations are a stunning highlight. You're a thoughtful photographer, and skilled with special effects as well :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post - words and photos both! Love the new header, too!
ReplyDeleteCat what a lovely letter, the photos have an old time quality like the early coloured in B&W photos, Frances

ReplyDeleteAnd, you're right...the garden does give us many gifts.
Happy Bloomday...
I often wonder how the plants can stand the heat (as I sit inside). My garden is starting to show the stress it's under. Your pics are lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely letter to your garden! You compliment your flowers and plants with those artistic photos. We should all talk to and thank our gardens more often.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, Cat! Lovely images and your words are exquisite too. Such a lovely thought to write a letter to your garden, thanking it for all the joy it brings you. You have an amazing heart and your photos are beautiful as always. Love the cornflower.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your thoughts as much as your flowers. Thanks for inviting me in.

ReplyDeleteof all true gardeners, and as always your photographs are truly inspiratioinal!
how you empathize with your plants! it's a lesson in endurance, i guess!
ReplyDeleteHi Cat, Absolutely gorgeous post on your blooms! Love your love letter :-) I certainly "feel" for my plants when I see them baking in the rays, but then I'm out there baking right alongside them :-) They lift my spirits and I give them a drink to say thanks :-) I need to go back and look at your recent past posts and catch up since I've been a busy wayward blogger lately.
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully said and a reminder to appreciate the amazingness of those blooms who can take the heat and keep on thriving. And where are all the caterpillars? Looks like we both have herbs awaiting their arrival.
ReplyDeleteIs your Hydrangea still in bloom? All of my blossoms turned brown quite a while back - and now the poor plant is suffering in our ongoing drought. Here's hoping for rain! Happy GBBD.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful images, suitable for greeting cards! Also loved your elegantly worded message. Happy Summer!
ReplyDeletePieces of art, just beautiful!
