June GBBD ~ A Love Letter

Dear Garden,

It's mid-June and your heat stress settles on my heart as though I were the one sitting under the blistering sun.  Somehow you manage to wake every morning looking fresh from the night's reprieve to bravely face another day of a cloudless sky.

You spring forth with bright sunny blooms as if shaking your fist at the blazing sun, daring it to daunt your valiant effort to face the day with a lively disposition.

Your cool hues brighten shady recesses and revive the battered, heat weary spirit.

Never complaining, anxiously awaiting the absent caterpillars that your tender leaves would willingly nurture.

Your heat hardy flowers are a testament to your ardent determination to provide sustenance to all creatures dependent on you for their existence.

All the while, never failing to provide a gardener a moment of wonder at your astonishing tenacity.  You're a giving friend garden, and for all your gifts, this gardener is grateful.

Joyfully yours,
Cat

  4. I imagine that a season like this one really is quick to advise you of which plants can be counted on in your particular conditions... thanks for a lovely post! Larry

  5. Is it correct to say that your photos are outrageously beautiful? I guess the texture plays a part but even the yellow flower without texture is spectacular. Sense the envy?

Would it help if I get a macro lens or is it the photographer?

    Happy GBBD! :)

  7. Happy bloom day Cat. Isn't that so true, that in the early morning the garden seems to have mustered the energy overnight to bloom again. In my garden the chocolate daisies are once again perfuming the air. Then by afternoon they wither in the blistering heat. How many more days can they do this?

  30. Hi Cat, Absolutely gorgeous post on your blooms! Love your love letter :-) I certainly "feel" for my plants when I see them baking in the rays, but then I'm out there baking right alongside them :-) They lift my spirits and I give them a drink to say thanks :-) I need to go back and look at your recent past posts and catch up since I've been a busy wayward blogger lately.

  31. So beautifully said and a reminder to appreciate the amazingness of those blooms who can take the heat and keep on thriving. And where are all the caterpillars? Looks like we both have herbs awaiting their arrival.

  32. Is your Hydrangea still in bloom? All of my blossoms turned brown quite a while back - and now the poor plant is suffering in our ongoing drought. Here's hoping for rain! Happy GBBD.
