It seems official, if not by the calendar, at least by the activities, heat and blooms. The kids are out of school, commencement ceremonies will be underway this afternoon and the summer flowers are blooming!
Zinnias are some of my favorite flowers for their bright, whimsical attitude and they can stand up to the heat like no other!
Bees are buzzing about and when I take a moment to watch them, I'm immediately lulled into the summertime pace.
Another favorite that likes it super hot is the Pale Pavonia. It bloomed for the first time this season and I'm so thrilled! It sports the most dainty little flower with exquisite detail. Although the sun was high overhead, I couldn't resist snapping a shot. I'll try to capture it in more agreeable light soon so you can see all the detail more clearly.
Lots of wildlife has been spotted this week too. I'll post about them next week. Until then, have a wonderful weekend!!
So beautiful flowers, my favorite is the first one. It is so wonderful summerday here also but i'm at work till late night, blaah.
ReplyDeleteEnjou the the lovely weekend and take wonderful flower shots:)
How wonderful to have the summer start already...school here will not end for 3 more weeks and by then I hope the weather turns to the nicer side of warm....gorgeous flowers to remind me of what is coming here soon...
ReplyDeleteHi Cat. Your Coneflowers and Zinnias are so pretty. I love them in the garden too because they can take so much heat. Also the little critters like them. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos. I just love how you do them.
ReplyDeleteTime is zipping right along isn't it? It is wonderful to see the summer flowers kicking in and loving this heat.
ReplyDeleteLove that Pale Pavonia! Looking forward to seeing more photos of it.
ReplyDeleteYour Zinnias definitely look a whole lot better than mine. You have some magical touch. Throw me some magic dust, pls?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer, Cat! Congratulations again to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to all the blooms and veggies of summer. I never am so keen on the heat, but I do get used to it after a while. Your summer flowers look so beautiful! And the photos, as always, are great!
ReplyDeleteI have 9 1/2 days of school to go!! Woo-hoo!! My coneflowers just started blooming. SUMMER!!
ReplyDeletelucky you are getting some heat! nothing is more relaxing! (btw, i like your new, tiny, faint, yet still effective watermark or whatever those are called. you photos are way too gorgeous to have your name distracting from them!!)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and I agree on all accounts- regardless of what the calendar may or may not say, summer is here!
ReplyDeleteYea for summer.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of Pavonia before. Thanks for sharing!
And congrats to you & your daughter also for graduation! She is pretty like her mama :)

Hi Cat, Wow, you are light years ahead. Echinacea already! And Zinnas too!! (That is a beautiful opening shot BTW) Hot pink and orange zinnas mixed with other late bloomers make up my most favourite summer bouquet of cut flowers. I just love those bright, bold colors. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's been awhile since I've walked through your gardens! Yours are so far ahead of mine... it gives me hope! We've had a wet cold Spring, but even then it's been lovely. We're just about three weeks behind normal here. All good unless Fall comes early. Love your photos as always!
