Ah, Colorado. So stunning. I just made my reservations to fly out in Sept. to see my son. I want to see him so much, but I also want to see the mountains. They give me rest and peace.
I gasped when I saw that first photo. I've always dreamed of seeing the Rocky Mountains in full bloom. I once spent a month camping in the Wind River Wilderness area of Wyoming but September was too late for blooms and we were above the tree line mostly. Thanks for sharing your photos; both are stunning. Good luck with sending your daughter off to school. Now to reply to your comment on my blog.
Summer is a great time to visit Colorado! Hope you're having a blast. 103 here until "at least Wednesday" -- we're having a blast as in from a furnace!
Oh, my, what a totally gorgeous area! We visit each November for 5 days while my husband attends a conference. I sure wish I could get them to schedule it earlier in the year!
** Deep sigh ** ... We usually only see CO in the Winter, so I miss the blooms of Summer. Your first shot reminds me of "The Sound of Music"... (even though that was in Austria!) Colorado is one of those places I would move in a "NY minute" if the 'fates allowed'. :)
Glorious. I, too, have only ever seen the Colorado Rockies in winter, covered in snow. Beautiful to see the greens and blues, and all those lovely wildflowers.
Beautiful photos, Cat! I love Colorado and have spent a considerable amount of time in the mountains over the past 12 years. Your photos remind me of a cool, beautiful place to be.
Not much scenery like that around these parts but it is reminiscent of a recent trip to Transylvania. http://blog.theenduringgardener.com/floral-overload/ Long may it remain unspoilt.

ReplyDeleteThat's Rocky Mountain National Park, right? Awesome place, as long as the traffic isn't too heavy.
