30 Day Challenge ~ Thanksgiving ~ Day 22

Thankful today for laundry.  Yep, that's right.  Laundry.

Spotted this little cutie (Black-Eyed Susan vine - Thunbergia alata) poking through the fence underneath my laundry room window this morning.  I don't know where it came from as it's growing in dense shade under a massive photinia (my neighbor's).  It poked through the fence looking for some light,
found it and burst into bloom!

Seriously hoping that we don't get a freeze this winter and it blooms all winter long!  Wouldn't
that make doing laundry sweet?!

  1. Such a cute little flower! And if you did my laundry, it would be a win-win situation for the both of us. You could be thankful and I would be thankful ;-) (Un)fortunately that would be a far trip for my laundry ;-)

  4. What a sweet little flower! By the way, thank you SO much for the tomatillo recipe! I made a green salsa once that just seemed to be missing something. I think sugar will be the magic ingredient.

  5. I laughed out loud at this post, I was thinking the same thing today. I have to do laundry with my old wringer washer and I was thinking how thankful I was that it is still running. (No need to pity me, I could afford a new-fangled washing machine---I only use the wringer washer by choice!)

The thunbergia must be so thankful to have found your side of the fence. How pretty!

  7. A nice surprise.
I've tried growing these before, with no luck...and, this one just shows up.
Glad it's there to brighten the day.

We got a fast three quarter inch of rain this morning, in that storm. A lot ran off. But, better some than none. Rain barrels are full.

  8. What a nice surprise! I love black-eyed susan vine. I have one growing on an arbor. Last year I planted some in a different and nicely prepared spot and they pretty much took over that section of the garden! Some of their seeds came back this year and surprise me with blooms intermingled among my abelia shrubs.

  11. What a beautiful post, Cat! It's so in keeping with your resolution from the beginning of this year to "espy" more moments/things in your daily life. This post captures that to a tea. This Thanksgiving, one of the many (many) things I am thankful for is you and the way your blog reminds me to be grateful for the every day things life sends my way. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.
