Foliage Follow-Up ~ A Few Stand-Outs

I wasn't going to post today.  I'm supposed to be getting ready to go to work...to assist my friend, the photographer, taking pictures in our neighborhood pumpkin patch.  But you know how it goes.  I walked outside for just a minute; just to see what was happening and I saw it...

morning dew reflected back at me from the canna at the back of the garden.  Well, who could resist going farther?

The sun back lighting the pineapple sage leaf called to me...the intricate design of the leaf is so appealing and when lightly crushed it smells of pineapple.

As I looked away from the pineapple sage I noticed a slight glow in the center of the japanese aralia bush.  The sun was spotlighting this new bud so beautifully.

In the same bed the japanese maple along with the live oak was casting a spectacular shadow on the brick wall.

And finally, this maple leaf is starting to show subtle changes in reaction to the cooler, shorter days of autumn.

I'm so glad I stepped outside this morning!  Pam at Digging is hosting Foliage Follow-Up today.   Check her blog for autumn foliage from other garden bloggers.

  1. Thanks to Pam for leading me to yet another fine blog. The photo of the shadow leaves on the brick is brilliant.

  2. I love the lighting in your photos. I struggle with that a bit. Your macro shots are beautiful.

  3. I tried you give your blog picks on blotanical for the past few days, and I think your site is corrupted. Maybe you should check to see if others are having the same trouble. It gives a few lines of code and does not take the picks. I visited your blog without blotancal this time to let you know.

  4. I've been having trouble getting blotanical to favourite recently too. Maybe a glitch on the site?

As always lovely photos of stunning subjects.

  5. A warm welcome to first time visitors! I so appreciate you stopping by and your comments really are an added plus. I love to hear from you and share your gardens too.

gardenwalkgardentalk, I find that natural morning light is my favorite...natural, autumn morning light is divine!

Also, yes others are having trouble too and I've sent a message to Stuart at Blotanical to see if we can figure out what the problem is. I'm still new to Blotanical but did check out the FAQ section and just wasn't sure so sent an email to him. I hope to resolve soon. Thanks for letting me know. ~ Cat

Unfortunately I missed ESP tour today but hope to see many pictures from the Austin bloggers. I was helping out in the pumpkin patch!

  18. Thank you so much for your nice comment about my scanography (I never seem to get used to that word).
I see that you are blessed woth gardening in a slightly (understatement!) better zone than I am. The very last leaves are now falling from the trees here. Well, well. It's time too start planning for a new year and new experiments in the garden.
    All the best
