Right on Cue!

The big 18th birthday celebration is fast approaching and the staining of the arbor is complete.  I have to give a shout out to my sweet husband who has spent the last two days at a dizzying height of 15 feet to get this job done!  Wooohooo!

As if on cue for the big event, my fall favorite has started blooming in force this week

This shot was taken a couple of weeks ago for my Autumn, Austin Style post.  I've been eagerly anticipating the opening of these blooms.

These sunny delights bloom every October, always in time for my daughter's birthday.  They bloom throughout the green space behind our fence creating a gorgeous backdrop to the rest of the garden.

The miscanthus (not sure of the variety) shines brightly in the afternoon sun.

You can't help but smile when you look out your window and see these!  They are blooming all over Austin right now, along the roadways and throughout the hills. The neighborhood is filled with these cheery flowers.

They are as alluring to the bees and monarchs as they are to me.

Not to be ignored, the mint marigold is putting on its fall show as well.

The lion's tail has a few more blooms for us to enjoy before the first frost.

The Patrick's abutilon offers more lantern like flowers.

The stock-tank pond is still beautiful although you can see signs of decline.  This time of year is so bittersweet knowing that soon the pond will be empty of plant life until next spring.

The Colorado water lily is blooming.  Its blooms seem a softer, more pale shade of pink this time of year and the plant is starting to show the signs of shorter days.  Because the sun is lower in the sky, it doesn't enjoy as much sun as it did in the summer months either.  I will miss these through the winter months.

My favorite weather forecaster is calling for beautiful weather this weekend.  It should be an awesome day to celebrate a milestone with family and friends.

*To my Blotanical friends:  The feed issue has been resolved so if you'd like to pick a post, there should be no problem!  Yeah, Stuart!!

  9. I love that photo of the water lily.

I'm a little confused and had to do a little research on your blog. At first I was thinking YOU were turning 18, but with a husband already and some mature writing, that didn't seem totally right. But that you have 2 older children? Is that your photo on the side bar? How do you look so damn good?
